Tent hopping is the very best way to make the most of the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, and Ellie and the rest of the Champagne Cowgirls two-stepped to multiple tents, including the steer committee tent, The Stockyard Saloon, the lamb and goat committee tent at the Rams Club and the poultry committee tent at the Chicken Shack. It was a boot-scootin’ good time for a great cause, raising funds and supporting education for the deserving youth of Texas.
It was a party bus, rather than a chuck wagon that brought Ellie and the Champagne Cowgirls to the barbecue cook-off grounds. The Champagne Cowgirls were ready to roll, with bubbly on board and an evening of live music and barbecue on the menu.
The World Championship Bar-B-Que contest is Houston’s version of a Western Mardi Gras, complete with parades and wild western style. The Bar-B-Que Contest continued Friday and Saturday night and while most team tents were invitation-only, visitors enjoyed the public venues including the Miller Lite Garden, Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon and the Chuck Wagon, where visitors received a complimentary chopped beef sandwich plate.
More than 250 barbecue teams put their skills to the test for the delicious bragging rights as winners of the biggest pre-party to the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo. The Champagne Cowgirls survived three days of cooking, competition, eating and dancing!
